ABSTRACT

Objective@#To analyze the usage of catering software and the creation of recipes by schools, as part of the Nutrition Improvement Program for Rural Compulsory Education Students (NIPRCES) 2013-2017.@*Methods@#In each county of the 699 trial counties across 22 provinces in central and western area of China under the NNIPRCES, no less than 10% of primary and junior middle schools were randomly selected according to their catering mode (i.e., school feeding, food packages, and family feeding). School questionnaires were used to collect information concerning the schools and the creation of recipes.@*Results@#From 2013 to 2017, the utilization rate of catering software was 11.7%, 8.0%, 17.8%, 16.9%, and 14.0%, respectively with significant differences(χ 2=345.09,P<0.01). The creators of school-meal recipes included schools, the Education Bureau, hospitals and colleges, the centers of disease prevention and control. Differences were observed in the proportion of recipe creators across school type, area, and catering mode, while annual trends also varied (P<0.01), as indicated by the following proportions: 74.9%, 20.0%, 3.7%, 1.3%, respectively. Food safety was identified as the main factor that needs to be considered when creating school recipes, the proportions of which were 58.0%, 78.4%, 70.6%, and 87.4% from 2014 to 2017.@*Conclusion@#From 2013 to 2017, the utilization rate and the frequency of catering software were both relatively low, and recipe creation was in need of professional guidance. It is necessary to strengthen the popularization of catering software and improve the nutritional knowledge and skills of canteen workers to ensure the quality of school meals.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Chinese medicine (CM) improving pregnancy outcomes after surgery for endometriosis-associated infertility.@*METHODS@#A multicenter, randomized, double-blind placebo parallel controlled clinical trial was designed. A total of 202 patients who had laparoscopy for endometriosis-associated infertility with qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome were included and randomly divided into the CM treatment group and placebo control group at a ratio of 1:1 using a central block randomization from May 2014 to September 2017, 101 patients in each group. The two groups received continuous intervention at 1-5 days after surgery, for 6 menstrual cycles. Before ovulation, the CM group was treated Huoxue Xiaoyi Granule (); after ovulation, Bushen Zhuyun Granule ( was involved. The control group was treated with placebo. Transvaginal ultrasonography was performed every menstrual cycle during the treatment, and female hormone levels in the follicular and luteal phases were measured during the 1st, 3rd and 6th menstrual cycles. The analysis was continued until pregnancy. The primary outcomes were clinical pregnancy rate and pregnancy outcome, and the secondary outcomes were follicular development and endometrial receptivity. Safety evaluations were performed before and after treatment.@*RESULTS@#(1) Clinical pregnancy and live birth rates: the clinical pregnancy and live birth rates of the CM group were significantly higher than those of the placebo group [44.6% (45/101) vs. 29.7% (30/101), 34.7% (35/101) vs. 20.8% (21/101), both P0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Strategies for activating blood circulation-regulating Gan (Liver)-tonifying Shen (Kidney) sequential therapy can effectively improve the clinical pregnancy rate and live birth rate of endometriosis-associated infertility with qi stagnation and blood stasis after laparoscopy, improve follicular development, promote ovulation, improve endometrial receptivity, while being a safe treatment option. ABSTRACT

AIM To observe the effect of Zishen Yutai Pills (Cuscutae Semen,Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma,Dipsaci Radix, etc.) on RAS,VEGF,VEGFR-2,sVEGFR-1 and MAPK in recurrent miscarriage mice, and to explore its mechanism.METHODS CBA/J female mice + DBA/2 male mice, and CBA/J female mice + BALB/c male mice were mated by 2 females and 1 male in cage to establish the RSA model and the normal pregnancy CBA × BALB/c mouse model respectively.Since the zeroth day of pregnancy,a total of 24 CBA/J × DBA/2 mice were randomly divided into model control group,Zishen Yutai Pills group and progesterone capsule group, and 10 CBA × BALB/c mice were used as normal pregnancy control group.Mice of all groups after the respective 15-day intervention had their rate of uterine embryo loss measured and calculated.Their pathological changes of decidual tissue were determined by HE staining, their RAS,VEGF,VEGFR-2,sVEGFR-1,MAPK protein and mRNA expressions were detected by immunohistochemistry and real-time PCR.RESULTS Zishen Yutai Pills significantly reduced the rate of embryo loss and improved pathological changes of decidual tissue in RSA mice through regulating mouse decidual tissue angiogenesis and recasting,as revealed by the lowered levels of RAS,VEGF,VEGFR-2 and MAPK,and increased expression of sVEGFR-1.CONCLUSION Zishen Yutai Pills can lower the rate of embryo loss and improve decidual angiogenesis in RSA mice through altering the expression of RAS,VEGF,VEG-FR-2,sVEGFR-1 and MAPK.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo objectively evaluate the effectiveness and safety of electroacupuncture (EA) at Sanyinjiao (SP 6) for treatment of peri-menopausal syndrome.

METHODSAll the patients enrolled were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group. The treatment group were treated with EA at Sanyinjiao (SP 6) for 3 therapeutic courses, thrice each week, 30 min each time, one month constituting one course. The control group were treated with oral administration of nylestriol for 3 months, 2 mg each time, twice each month. For the menopausal patient, medroxyprogesterone was added from the third month of the treatment for 7 days, 6 mg each day. Changes of vasomotorial symptoms, mental symptoms and scores of Kupperman indexes before and after treatment for 1 month, 2 months and 3 months were investigated.

RESULTSEA could significantly decrease the score of Kupperman indexes, improve vasomotorial symptoms and mental symptoms in the patient of peri-menopausal syndrome with no severe adverse effects. The control group in the score of Kupperman indexes was slightly higher than the treatment group with no significant difference between the two groups, but the treatment group in improvement of the vasomotorial symptoms was better than the control group and in improvement of mental symptoms was not as good as the control group.

CONCLUSIONEA at Sanyinjiao (SP 6) is effective and safe for treatment of peri-menopausal syndrome.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUNDTo clarify the difference and significance of T-lymphocyte subsets in differential diagnosis between severe acute respiratory syndrome SARS) and common atypical pneumonia.

METHODSTotally 100 patients hospitalized in Beijing Ditan Hospital since March to June 2003 with clinical diagnosis of SARS were involved in this study. These patients courses of disease were over 3 weeks. These patients were divided into two groups, SARS group and common atypical pneumonia group (non-SARS group). The counts of CD3+, CD4+ and CD8+ T-lymphocyte of two groups were systematically recorded and analyzed.

RESULTSSixty-five of the patients were confirmed to have common type of SARS, including 26 males and 39 females, 50 cases received methylprednisolone treatment. Thirty-five cases had common atypical pneumonia (non-SARS), 21 were males while 14 were females, 20 cases received methylprednisolone treatment. All the cases of two groups were cured in the end. The SARS patients T-lymphocyte counts decreased first and then increased. Before 15 days of disease course, mean CD3+, CD4+, CD8+ T-lymphocyte counts of SARS patients were decreased apparently (694+/-568/microl, 441+/-356/microl, 309+/-462/microl). After 15th day of disease course, the counts gradually returned to normal CD3+, CD4+, CD8+ T-lymphocyte counts of non-SARS patients were normal. Compared with patients of the same group who were not treated with glucocorticoids, T-lymphocyte counts of non-SARS patients treated with glucocorticoids had no obvious difference. But glucocorticoids had some effect on SARS patients recovery of cellular immune function, i.e., it delayed the recovery by about 6 days.

CONCLUSIONWith or without treatment with glucocorticoids, the lowered CD3+, CD4+, CD8+ T-lymphocyte counts in the early stage are of very important significance in differential diagnosis between severe acute respiratory syndrome and common atypical pneumonia.
